Consultations

What is a Consultation?

A consultation is meant to be a meeting, free of cost, where you can meet with your artist in order to discuss further details.  On occasion an artist may feel comfortable with forgoing this process, but that is purely up to artist discretion.

The purpose of the consultation is to help communicate your idea to the artist. As such, there are things to take into consideration in preparing for a consultation.

  • Consultations should be brief - usually 20-30 minutes.

  • Bring reference images, or even better, email them!

  • Artwork will not be completed at the consultation.

  • A deposit and appointment for the tattoo are required by most artists before any artwork will be worked upon for the client.

  • Deposits are non-refundable. This is compensation for the artist's time and work, but will be applied to the client's tattoo cost as long as they show up on time and/or reschedule with appropriate notice before their appointment.

  • A deposit is not a guarantee that you will receive artwork in advance! Artists all work on different time scales, some finishing the night before their appointment, others do so days or even a week ahead of time. So please check with your artist so you have an idea of how they work, if they do not tell you during the consultation process.
